I have a confession. For the past two months I’ve been trying to make time to edit my next book and I’m still not finished with it.
My excuse is that I’m waiting for a large block of time so I can work uninterrupted. But appointments, requests from clients and project deadlines keep getting in the way.
The only time I’ve worked on my book has been while flying. Think about it…what else can you do on an airplane other than read, work or sleep? But that hasn’t been enough. So this week I’m trying a different approach and I’m setting up shop for an hour or two a day at my neighborhood coffee shop. My goal is to finish my book by Friday.
While I’m the ultimate supporter of working from home, sometimes you have to leave your home office to be productive. And I’m OK with that.
What have you been putting off that you’re going to tackle this week?

I find working in coffee shops to be quite helpful for tackling block projects. You still have some ambient distraction, but the people around you are not YOUR people. You don’t have to interact with them. You can do a bit of people-watching between brilliant ideas.
Let’s face it, I love working from home (naked), but my chihuahua isn’t always the most stimulating workmate. Don’t tell him though, because he owns a 51% stake in the LLC.

After spending time today working at a nearby coffee shop and accomplishing more on my book than I thought I would, I’m hooked. Like you, I enjoy working naked but if leaving my office will make me more productive at times, then that’s what I’ll do.
